For 6 years Limelight hosted private game servers that provided entertainment to nearly 50 thousand players with over 660 thousand hours logged. In 2021 they began their transition to a for-hire development team with an emphasis on game dev and server hosting & management.
Part of that transition included this brand and web redesign with a goal to create an established brand and a design system that could more easily scale with future projects.
Dark blues served as a cornerstone for the rebranding and built upon many of the colors seen in the old brand. The 'slice' iconography references one of the companies first logos while the L2 icon is a design for a common abbreviation 'LL'.
Single page design to give an overview of the company and direct users to the core content of the site; their forums.
A majority of the site content lives within the forums and great care was taken to ensure they were easy to navigate and read. The backend forum software utilizes Discourse as opposed to their old PHP-based software.
Styling for components used generous gradients, dropshadows, and blur effects all utilizing CSS.
Badges are automatically and manually awarded to users based on activity. The goal was to ensure they felt special and tangible via parallax effects.
